In the world of game design, the audio component must be just as impressive as the spectacular graphics being produced today. Fabien Noël presented the latest challenges faced by today’s sound architects in their efforts to reproduce a realistic immersion footprint to be used on two video games currently in development.
“Digital audio is the NextGen; we are now on the cusp of a genuine technical shift. Today, game consoles like the X-Box 360 and PS3 offer truly remarkable capabilities in terms of sound. And, though the technology is useful in producing a compelling immersion environment, it is not really an end onto itself and we must strive to go much further in our use of this technology.”
