About this demo-conference

[In French]

During her presentation, which also served as our introduction, Caroline Traube provided a retrospective of several electronic music pioneers through an overview of acoustic developments since the turn of the century. In her estimation, the digital concept is omnipresent in all phases of the electro-acoustic composition process.

Many musicians have dreamed of compact technological boxes, inside which all audible sounds, including noise, would be ready to come forth at the command of the composer. – John Cage, 1942
“Mr. Cage’s vision has now become reality. Today, most musical structure and sound operations can be generated and transformed using a laptop computer.”

Caroline Traube – PROFESSOR, FACULTE DE MUSIQUE, UdeM
