“Our experiments demonstrate that sound is a very powerful tool in the evocation of virtual spaces, and that it is difficult to avoid the “tunnel effect” that plunges players into the virtual and distances them from the real environment in which they are located.” Michael Longford (Concordia University and Hexagram) presented projects relating to the development of games and experiences that combine mobile technologies with real and virtual environments, as well as with interaction between players. These projects were developed in an urban setting in Montréal and a natural environment at the New Media Centre in Banff.
