About this demo-conference

[In French]

“ Quebec’s unique competence and expertise resides in gaming software.Gaming developers build the games, whereas Quebec’s gaming sector differentiates itself through the unique skills of its editors and independent developers. Quebec’s unique positioning is helping the game industry grow, and as it grows we are branding our expertise and competence. “

To kick off the conference Sylvie Gagnon presents a portrait of the video-game industry industry leaders in Quebec. It’s an industry that’s growing rapidly, with 26% annual growth in employment levels. One of Quebec’s undeniable assets is its multicultural and multi-ethnic dimension, which represents a crossroads between Europe and North America (the USA). In addition, Quebec has an important infrastructure for providing quality training (universities and the college network), through programs that offer a favourable balance of quality relative to costs. The greatest challenge remains putting into place a structure that respects the ongoing convergence of technology and the creative arts, in the professional realm as well as in the training and education segments.
