Éric Raymond – Artist, Professor, École des arts visuels et médiatiques, UQAM
In addition to his interest in the symbolic potential of new media, Éric Raymond also contemplates the ecology of sight or, more precisely, the way the surrounding environment influences our sight. In Mr. Raymond’s estimation, the development of new technologies has eroded man’s historic perception of the world.
“The things we see are not a given, they are constructs within the mind of the person seeing the object based on his or her experience of the world. And, based on this experience, it is the individual that then enlightens the world.”
