and Human Sensory/Motor Bandwidth: Stabilizing the Virtual World

[In English]

For users to enjoy a complete immersive experience, we must travel beyond simple graphic representations. Ronal V. Kruk (Senior Research Scientist, CAE Inc.) reminded us that humans constantly use all five of their senses to process the information surrounding them . Based on his more than 20 years of experience at CAE, Dr. Kruk presented the links between the various senses and their impacts on the processing of information by the human brain, the ultimate processor and critic of the quality of our immersive experiences. He then shared some of his experiences in the field of flight simulators and how they may be applied to the design of immersive environments in other fields such as games and telemanipulation .
