“The Ad Hoc mobile technology networks that we develop do not require any infrastructure and, as a result, can be deployed quickly and at low cost.” Danny Collard (Ultra Electronics) explained how, using technology developed by his group, mobile networks developed for military and emergency applications could be used to deploy temporary networks by simply depositing a series of intelligent routers that are able to instantly recognise contact points along a given path. A modern version of the Tom Thumb concept if you will.
