With the aging of our population and the increase in life expectancy, the need for quality long term care facilities i.e. nursing homes, retirement centers and assisted living communities has grown significantly over the last few years. This growth trend is expected to continue for the foreseeable future.

This paper presents an innovative approach of an integrated management and operations system that covers all the needs of residents, staff and management of a retirement home. The approach is based on an “All IP” tools, networks and applications.

Dr. Shaker Sabri is the Founder and CEO of MRC Networks. MRC develops and markets innovative healthcare solutions for hospitals, clinics and retirement homes. Prior to joining MRC, he was President and CEO of Miranda Media Networks from 2001 to 2003. From 1993 to 2001 he was Vice President and General Manager of GDC Multimedia Division. He founded the division in 1993 and in 1996 he assumed the global responsibility for GDC’s multimedia and broadband access business. Prior to joining GDC, he held several senior management positions at Nortel Networks where he was responsible for multimedia and broadband communications product development. Dr. Sabri is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He also held several academic positions with INRS Telecommunications, the University of Ottawa and Alexandria University.
