Sébastien Roy is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Technologies and Operational Research at Université de Montréal. As Director of the 3D Vision Laboratory, his research initiatives relate to the three-dimensional aspects of computer vision. More specifically, he is interested in the 3D reconstruction of images, motion analysis in video sequences, as well as the use of multiple projectors to generate coherent large-scale images on irregularly shaped surfaces, such as those used in immersion environments. Several of his projects have led to patents for invention, which further demonstrates the importance of technological transfer, especially towards his industrial collaborators, in his work. Scientific Director at the Society for Arts and Technology [SAT], Mr. Roy pays particular attention to the artistic and cultural applications of his works.
