Still today, the physician is surrounded by a large quantity of papers. New machines more precise produce more paper, graphs, images, etc. The patient chart contains more and more information. It is rapidly becoming impossible to find a specific information or to just know that it exists. The VisualMed clinical information system integrates the information about a patient from virtually all hospital information systems thus eliminating the need for a paper-based patient chart. This information is not just stored at one place enabling clinicians to consult it but it is used by the decision support algorithms to provide the most relevant information required at any time by the clinical staff. The VisualMED clinical information system will also use the information provided by the physician, nurse and other clinicians to further trigger additional decision support rules to provide more “intelligent” responses to the user. During the presentation, several screens will be presented to show how the clinical information about a patient can be communicated, integrated and presented to assist the user.

With more than 15 years experience in the field of electronic medical record, Michel Maksud is currently Chief Architect and Vice-President Technology at VisualMED Solutions. He is responsible for the development of the VisualMED Clinical System which allows for the communication, integration and use of all patient-related clinical information available inside hospitals.
