Jacques Viau is the director of the ISIQ, a unit of the CRIM (Centre de recherche informatique de Montréal) cdevoted to the security of information. Previously, he was an adviser in security and confidentiality at IBM. He has more than 30 years experience in the Montreal Urban Community police service, where he founded and directed the survey unit on technological criminality.

Mr. Viau has considerable experience in the control of evaluations of security, electronic tracking, legal data processing and investigation in a data-processing environment. He took part in investigations of more than one thousand cases relating to data-processing offences.
