Next generation consoles are a few days or month ahead. With this generation, graphics are reaching a very high level. The power available allows the construction of complex graphical scenes including many details. But what is happening for audio? This presentation will deal with acoustic environment and its representation in the context of video games. We will also consider the possibilities arising with next-gen consoles.
Amaury La Burthe is a Research Engineer and holds a M.Sc in Signal Processing, Acoustics and Computer Science applied to music from Ircam, Paris. He worked at Sony -CSL laboratory where his research interests concerned music access system, music descriptions, and epresentations. As member of the music group, he is co-author of several scientific publications concerning Music Information Retrieval, Music access systems, Audio representation and thumbnailing. He is now working as a lead sound designer for Ubisoft, a video game company where he focuses on sound design for games and tools towards the implementation of complex audio scenes. Amaury La Burthe is also involved in a research group focused on urban sound recording, representation and transformation. Their goal is to find different ways of transformation and representation of scenes and places that are meant to disappear.
